Jeep Comanche- Park maintenance build

So life hit- sold my house, was nearly homeless, double jobs, and fighting my insurance the past 3 weeks over 3 cars and 1 driver (Sorry Jack!).

But the other day my buddy texted me. I guess one of his techs got bored and had nothing to do. So, he mounted up my tires.


Then he say the big box of parts- including new gaskets all around, KC lights, and such. He decided to tackle the valve cover gasket-

Not bad for 220k on it!

Today I finally got a pic in full- I think it looks a good bit better than before! Still wish i coulda swung the BFG's, but oh well.


Next up, once my insurance is cleared up- figure out paint!

Looks awesome! I saw that exact post picture when I was on search tempest, looking for backup KC hilites. Great job, can't wait to see it painted!

Update!

Got to see my truck for the first time ever last night. So lets post some updates.

New headlights and relay were installed! Much better light output. I got a new tailgate from the ex-Mysteed build, along with a couple other bits.

Went for first drive! Almost ran out of gas! Discovered the mighty POWER switch! I was happy. Also started using the new keychains, raptor approved.



Today I gassed u and went for a drive, then did some cleaning. Discovered that for some reason, a PO cut off the female side of the seatbelt, so I have to sue the buckle from the middle seat. Took off the camo steering wheel cover, and started cleaning that up. My radio was dead, so I installed this one (also from Mysteeds truck)


Last thing- I tried out 2 stripe ideas. Which one do you guys like?





Im leaning towards A.

Ended when it got dark, and I failed with some paint stripper. and discovered the taillights werent working.

I like A, you should probably have them angled the same. I think the origianl red stripe angle is about 72°

Also, where did you get the key chains? (or how did you make them?)

Thanks! Ill mark that down. Im leaning towards A since it works with the COMANCHE emblem placement as well.

I made them- lots of time in MS paint. I can send the file if you want.

Some more work done today/yesterday!

Discovered that the right turn signal wasnt working right (causing other lights to flash), and wouldnt work at all with the headlights on. Also no taillights.

First step- clean ground. Fixed the tails! But no signal? Hmm. Frustration, new project.




Notice anything missing? Put the spare tire in, and installed jacking tools.


Interior is coming together!


Power button! Gives a whole 177hp



Decided to play around with the KC's. 2 possible spots. Thoughts guys?







Finally started again on the grounding issue. Narrowed it down to the front right parking light- the sockets have problems with the grounds failing. Replacement? Nobody stocks it. Great.

Installed some new weatherstripping to the doors, a bit quieter. But still some small leaks up top.

Also new socket.


And it did...Nothing. Crapass. Went for a drive


Tiny truck!

Found a guy for paint, so it should be going in sometime soon for an LJ1 paintjob. But it still needs:
-Door hinge weld broke
-alignment
-lighting ground repaired

Apparently, its 'Lets buy a bunch of crap' week.

-New 'Comanche' side decals, a red tailgate JEEP
-3/4 gauge cluster to replace the idiot lights
-switch panel for external PA
-Set of #25 decals from Jack

Oh, and the paint. LJ1 with Ford Torch Red for the stripes. Big check, big hole in bank account.

Seeing families face when this thing pulls up at the family vacation next month? Priceless.


In other news, I was an idiot and bought the 102" CB antenna last winter. In New York. When the truck is in Georgia. Crap.

Found my electrical problem.

The taillights all take a clear 1157 bulb. What happens if the PO installs an amber bulb? Exactly the problem I had, apparently.

So did these!



Also picked these up. 55W, rated at 150,000 candle power. I did not expect them to be this big. Guess Ill have some overhead lights, when I get around to making a mounting bar!

Shop is doing the main paint, stripes, and numbers. Ill be doing the wheels and mirrors after the fact.
