Easy with those can safes; they are not the correct size. Something about the weld makes them too tight. The UPC code is also the same with the new can as the old. Couple this with the fact that most on-line sources are using stock photos of the old can make buying the correct style on the net almost impossible. The stores are pretty much out of the old stock, too.
This means that unless a prop maker stocked up, there will be no more runs of cryocans. Even then, they will be limited. There is a high rate of loss when cutting the cans. I lose 1 in 3.
In the future, people can of course still make replicas but they'll be using new cans (if those are still the proper size) or cans with wraps. They will be poor imitations.
I suggest getting a replica with the proper can while you can. Once people realize what's happening they'll notice sales have dried up, too. This will boost the secondary market pretty fast and send prices up.
Simply put. Buy now, save later!
