Re: The beginning of JP13
The soft top allows all the sounds to get in, i bet when your top comes off you will have wind noise problems but maybe not. Your light bar could be tilted slightly different than mine preventing the light holes from whistling.

You're not kidding. I test drove a couple soft tops and was shocked at how loud they were at 50mph. 65-70 would have made me deaf in about a week.ratrace427 wrote:The soft top allows all the sounds to get in...
While painting my top I discovered my right front top corner seal was missing. That's where most of my wind noise comes from. I'll replace that seal when the top goes back on in November or so.
I also get noise through the cowl seal since most of it crumbled off when I was painting the windshield frame red. I'll replace that when I take the top off. Also have to get at the left front speaker while the windshield is down.
I have a spice roll bar cover to replace the crusty black one too.
Nothing else to do this weekend...

Replaced the O2 sensor and then sometimes my Jeep would refuse to start.
Replaced the crankshaft sensor but that didn't fix it.
Dropped in a new distributor with a new camshaft position sensor and it hasn't failed to start in a couple days.
Keeping my fingers crossed that did it!

Got a whip antenna installed today. That's about it until I get it painted with actual paint at some later date.

Awesome! How did you attach that to our light bar?

Thanks!
I just drilled some holes and used some clips I had laying around. I need to find something else as these let the antenna slip down.

Re: The beginning of JP13
I stuck my aerial under the light bar mount then tightened the bolts up. Its not coming out but it sits close to the window frame and slaps against the corner. I put a piece of vacuum tubing over the end of the aerial to prevent noise and paint damage. Its been working great for the past year but what about putting some vacuum tubing over your end? I bet it would fix your slipping problem. Get some small tubing and use wd-40 to help with pushing it over the ball on the end. If you have a CB you dont want the antenna touching metal or it wont function.

No CB here. Mine slaps the hard top. It's loud. I may put a bumper on the top when it goes back on in November or so.

I've seen ppl put tennis balls on these to lesson the whacking noise when it bumps the car (and to protect their paint from scratches I suppose)
These ball mounts are pretty cool,, you can rotate the center and then rotate the half of the ball and point the antenna more away from your jeep/hard top. Might lesson the slapping.
