You've got that right! I'm out on the East Side, not too far from UGA. Maybe by the time JP4 comes out we can have a couple of complete Jeeps at the Mall of GA premier, ha.

Hahaha that'd be awesome, but mine won't be done anytime soon - still gotta get that job. (>.\)heartyfield wrote:You've got that right! I'm out on the East Side, not too far from UGA. Maybe by the time JP4 comes out we can have a couple of complete Jeeps at the Mall of GA premier, ha.
Would love to see it when it is done though.

I finally got done sanding (got sick of sanding) and sprayed the base coat. I used the TCP global Restoration Shop LJ1 match. This was my first time painting so there's a couple spots that need attention, but I figure I'll hit those when I paint the hood numbers. I was overall satisfied in the final product and ended up using around .5 gallon of paint. With around two weeks to finish, here are the results so far:

Re: Athens, Georgia - Jeep 12. Build Thread
I won a set of KC lights on ebay- they are hilites LE, model 770 without the amber colored lenses. It's so hard to find information on them, so I'm not sure how 'canon' they are. The overall design is the same as the 46 and amber LE, but I guess I'll see when they get here.
EDIT: So it looks like the 770's are the clear lens version of the model 570. (If I would have revisited the original post, I would have known this.) They measure 6" x +/-3.75" I picked them up for $47 shipped, so hopefully I'll eventually find the amber lenses and I'll be set.

Re: Athens, Georgia - Jeep 12. Build Thread
So I've been working on red striping the jeep. I was having difficulty earlier and DrewSmith007 suggested using a laser level in another thread, so I tried it last night and I have to say that really makes life easier. Here is a picture of how the level projects onto the jeep:
I used the laser on a tripod mount and would highly suggest using one for your layout.
Here is where I'm at now: Left: (I fixed the skewed number)
Right:
I need to recheck the bottom angle again and also from where the line on the hood meets the body. Does anyone notice any glaring errors? I'm hoping to spray tomorrow and want to make sure it's right.

Glad that laser idea worked out! You might upload a shot of the whole jeep from the side, I think it would be easier to check the lines that way. Looks good to me though.
Re: Athens, Georgia - Jeep 12. Build Thread
Double check the back edge line on both sides,,, for some reason it doesn't appear parallel to the front one you laid out with the laser level. It might just be the photo angle playing tricks.
I've been checking and rechecking the stripes, and have come to the conclusion the front stripe IS wider than the back stripe. Every single reference shot, when measured the front stripe is more pixels wide than the back stripe.
Your laser is brighter than mine No fair!!!!
