Pelican Case

Post by trevorpape » February 2nd, 2020, 8:36 pm

Considering where we started... Previously used military case... pretty rough shape.

Now, I didn't fill in gauges or cuts, or even very indention out... but, I did put in considerable time removing years of stickers, decals, etc from the case... and then sanding the entire thing.

Followed by numerous types of "gray" color, Primer, etc....
In my mind, everything was too light... So I settled on something a few shades darker than the original.

Didn't take too many photos before or any during... but, below are how it turned out.
Used Rustoleums Coastal Gray for the color.

Ordered New foam from the pelican Ebay page... it was $40 for a complete new set.

Already have Flares for it... looking through extinguishers as well....
If only I could find a Maxa Light that wasn't $1200+

Great write up Trevor! You and me both are wishing we could find a Maxabeam for less than $1200. Only chance is some old lady selling one at a garage sale and not knowing what it is lol. I've been on the prowl for the correct fire extinguisher but they are pretty rare. Would be amazing if someone came up with a screen accurate label that we could throw on any fire extinguisher. Its semi in the works but wouldn't expect anything soon. Where did you get your flares from?

How did you find such a small Pelican Case?

JK. Looks fantastic. Maxabeams do show up on ebay for the 400-500 mark a few times a year. I was able to find a extinguisher on ebay also (Those the label is the older style, but tiny bit different). Stay vigilant.

Hey man, Thanks, I really should finish it. And thank you for the offer on measurements. I will scale it to probably fit the sticker on my own pelican case. And if there is a difference in size then I can offer both depending on which pelican case "year" you have.

That case looks great painted. Is your new foam a solid piece or the pick&pluck stuff?
