Just wanted to show-off our newest movie theme vehicle we were commissioned to build.
This is our Jurassic Park Ranger/Staff Jeep replica #07. We built this replica from a 1992 Sahara YJ that we found in Indianapolis Indiana. Universal Studios was kind enough to share with us a red paint chip sample off the screen/movie used JP jeep they have on display at their theme park.
We cleaned up the jeep, did some minor mechanical work on her, painted her in the screen accurate red, gave her the number 07, placed some accessories on her, then christened her with the name "CLEVER GIRL"!
We still need to obtain the Ramsey winch, the Jabsco 135sl search lights and the Mopar light bar.
We have been commissioned to build another JP replica. If you have a nice 1992-93 Sahara YJ to sell, a Ramsey winch, Jabsco 135SL search lights and/or CB radio whip antenna please PM me immediately
Thanks for looking, Bruce

Nice Jeep!
That's awfully nice of them to supply a paint chip but it's still a crap shoot to say it's the screen accurate color.... Mostly because the Jeep has been repainted, and if it's the same people that redid the explorer, I don't think film accuracy was top of their agenda.... But yes, please share the paint code that you have!

I agree with fantomas, they did not care much about film accuracy. She looks good!

Sorry about the delay. We have been crazy slammed with new projects. I thought I had posted it earlier.
When I had the paint chip analyzed by Finish Master and Ben's Paint supply, they both came up with "Ford Performance Red" Brand Code #4614 - OEM Code EY-M6564A,EBUAXXA
According to the prop dept manager at Universal Orlando, where Jeep #23 is on display. He pulled up the files and surprising enough records show that Jeep # 23 in Islands of Adventure at Universal Studios: Orlando is actually JP #12 from the movie. When the Jeep arrived in 1997 after years of wear and being left outside on the studio back lot. USF commissioned that JP #12 have a complete rebuild for display, but an oversight by the company that did the restoring place the number #23 on the Jeep and JP-12 became JP-23. It is unknown why they changed the number.
The records also shown the red paint color used was "Ford Performance Red" .
I'll down load my pics from my phone and see if I can post then here, first chance I get.

Interesting story... we all knew here they screwed up the number (among other things) which is why I find it hard to believe that the paint they used (and is in the records) is actually the same paint on the original Jeeps. I mean if it is, it is. 1992 appears to be the first year Ford came out with Performance Red, and it was only available on the Mustang so it would make sense, but I'm still slightly skeptical.

I'd put my money on a a generic auto paint from a company like Sherwin-Williams. Their paint is available everywhere, and it's likely that the prop department would use what was most convenient/readily available at the local paint shop.
